MOL to Study Vessel Transport of Liquefied CO2 as Part of JOGMEC Call

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) announced that it will be contracted by West Japan Carbon dioxide Storage Survey Co., Ltd., ENEOS Corporation, Electric Power Development Co., Ltd., and JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corporation to study the use of ships to transport liquefied CO2 as part of a carbon capture and storage (CCS) development project off western Kyushu.

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. announced that it has decided to equip its LR1 product tanker Nexus Victoria with the "Filtree System," an onboard CO2 capture system with a SOx scrubber manufactured by Value Maritime B.V., a Dutch emission reducing technology company. This marks the first time a Japanese operator has commercially installed a CO2 capture system onboard a vessel. The system is slated for installation around the end of 2024.

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. and JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corporation announced that they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop a Carbon dioxide Capture and Storage (CCS) value chain between Japan and Australia, including marine transport of carbon dioxide (CO2).

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and Bapco Energies announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for development of cross border CO2 transport and sequestration.
