The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM) has released a Request for Information (RFI) that seeks input intended to assist DOE in the planning of priorities and initiatives to catalyze the development, demonstration, and deployment of carbon capture,&nbsp;conversion, and storage technologies to decarbonize America’s industrial sectors.&nbsp;Large-scale deployment of carbon management infrastructure is crucial to meeting the Biden-Harris Administration’s ambitious climate goal of achieving a net-zero emissions economy by 2050, while also delivering a healthier environment and economic opportunities for our communities and workers. This plan will supplement the material included in the&nbsp;September 2023&nbsp;DOE report,&nbsp;<a href="https://liftoff.energy.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/LIFTOFF_DOE_Industrial-Decarbonization_v8.pdf">Pathways to Commercial Liftoff: Industrial Decarbonization</a>.&nbsp;The purpose of this RFI is to solicit feedback from industry, investors, developers, academia, research laboratories, government agencies, potentially impacted communities, and other stakeholders on potential industrial carbon capture demonstration and deployment projects, including potentially ideal locations for these projects in the United States. Input is encouraged from both domestic and international entities.&nbsp;DOE is interested in sector-specific input, particularly from sectors involving the production of aluminum, ammonia, cement, glass, iron and steel, lime, petrochemicals, paper, refining, soda ash, and liquified natural gas. The information collected may be used across DOE’s research, development, demonstration, and deployment portfolio, including, but not limited to, determining potential new areas of focus and innovation, identifying challenges and knowledge gaps, identifying regional opportunities, and determining the potential for clean energy and carbon management careers. &nbsp;In alignment with the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to advance environmental justice and equity,&nbsp;DOE is dedicated to ensuring that all DOE-funded carbon management projects carefully address societal considerations and impacts, emphasizing early, active, and meaningful engagement with local communities.This RFI is not a funding opportunity announcement.
