The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management announced more than $518 million to support 23 selected projects across 19 states that will fight climate change by developing the infrastructure needed for national decarbonization.
California Resources Corporation (CRC) and its carbon management business, Carbon TerraVault, announced the Kern County Board of Supervisors’ unanimous approval of the conditional use permit for the Carbon TerraVault I (CTV I) carbon capture and storage project. This permit authorizes the construction activities necessary for the development of the project, which would be the first of its kind in California.
INPEX CORPORATION announced it has signed an agreement with Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. through its subsidiary INPEX Browse E&P Pty Ltd to conduct a joint study to assess the feasibility of establishing a Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) value chain involving the capture of CO2 in Japan and its transportation from the Port of Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture to Australia for storage.
The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management announced more than $58.5 million in federal funding for 11 projects to help develop a commercially viable carbon dioxide removal industry in the United States. The funding will support pilot projects and testing facilities to demonstrate and scale carbon dioxide removal technologies that reduce CO2 pollution by removing it directly from the atmosphere.
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) announced that it will be contracted by West Japan Carbon dioxide Storage Survey Co., Ltd., ENEOS Corporation, Electric Power Development Co., Ltd., and JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corporation to study the use of ships to transport liquefied CO2 as part of a carbon capture and storage (CCS) development project off western Kyushu.
