Wood has been selected to provide operations and maintenance solutions for MTR Carbon Capture at the world’s largest membrane-based carbon capture plant in Gillette, Wyoming. The facility is part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s large-scale pilot carbon capture program which aims to advance crucial technologies to enhance the economic and environmental efficiency of point source carbon capture.
Zhenxing Feng and Alvin Chang of the OSU College of Engineering helped characterize a novel electrocatalyst developed by collaborators at Yale University and helped explain the improved efficiency for deriving methanol from carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas that’s largely responsible for global climate change.
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin signed a final rule approving the State of West Virginia’s request to regulate the injection of carbon dioxide into deep rock formations. Administrator Zeldin was joined by U.S. Department of the Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), and Congressman Riley Moore (R-WV-02) for the signing ceremony.
SBM Offshore announced the signature of a study with PETROBRAS for the application of Carbon Capture Modules on FPSOs. This compact modular solution allows a significant reduction of the overall emissions associated with the production of oil and gas from FPSOs.
POET announced they have entered into definitive agreements to connect POET’s Fairmont, Nebraska bioprocessing facility to the Tallgrass Trailblazer carbon dioxide pipeline. Under the arrangement, the POET facility will capture bioCO2 for transportation and permanent underground sequestration in Wyoming.
